Selection Notes · Wild & grafted
Compare the foundations first.
Compare walnut sources and buying approaches using risks, shell quality, surface quality and natural character.
01 / FIELD NOTES
Wild walnuts
Seed-grown walnuts vary naturally in size, proportions and texture, so close pairing can be difficult. Our brand favours this direction as a way to learn natural shell quality and character.
The word “wild” is not an exemption from inspection. Confirm the source and look at each actual pair.
02 / FIELD NOTES
Walnuts from grafted trees
Grafting reproduces selected traits and can make size, appearance and pairing more consistent. Quality still varies with the tree, management, harvest and treatment.
We retain selected naturally shaped examples from mature grafted trees only after they pass the same physical checks. Ordinary grafted stock is not our default starting recommendation.

Compare like with like
A price comparison is useful only when you know the actual condition, treatment disclosures, size, source and what service is included. An appealing photograph or product name cannot establish equivalence.
