Risk Guide · Growth & processing
Treatment risk needs more than one clue.
Understand the difference between growth treatments, chemical washing and artificial ageing, and inspect combinations of evidence.
01 / FIELD NOTES
Separate the different processes
Dayao refers here to treatments associated with abnormal growth or processing. Chemical washing takes place after harvest. Artificial ageing imitates time and handling. They are different processes and should not be treated as interchangeable labels.
02 / FIELD NOTES
Combine signals
Inspect shape, ridges, surface response, density in the hand, smell and source information together. Weight can change with size, moisture, cleaning and applied substances, so it is not a core standalone test.
No single appearance, odour or number proves treatment. Online images have limits; an uncertain case needs more information or physical inspection.
03 / FIELD NOTES
A practical inspection route
Request natural-light views of all six sides. Ask about tree source, growing practices, harvesting and any cleaning or repair. If the explanation remains unclear, postpone the purchase.
Our brand excludes confirmed treatment risks rather than selling them as a lower grade.
